Indigo Early Learning Centre

Forresters Beach

Welcome to Indigo Early Learning Centre Forresters Beach

Indigo is designed to welcome your family daily into a warm and multi-sensory environment. Natural calming oils gently diffuse through the front office and children can hear the drift of music that promises a day of playmates and activities. As you walk along the hallway to your child’s classroom you can linger to share the colourful displays of your children’s artwork and projects, check out our family library, scan the local community information stand, enjoy the fresh bush flowers and say good morning to our very own turtles.

Not to be missed as you pass the kitchen is the homely aroma of our wonderful cook baking and creating healthy dishes using fresh local ingredients, including herbs and vegetables from our own garden to tempt even the fussiest of little tummies.

Our approachable staff greet you with genuine warmth and quickly engage with your child to make your morning goodbye cheerful and upbeat – the best start to the day for you and your little person.

Our Classrooms

Our three classrooms open onto a vast classic covered Aussie outdoor veranda and sun-shaded sand pits.  Beyond this, with views stretching from the ocean to the mountains, is a huge grassed and landscaped outdoor playground that includes water play pumps and safe climb and cubby areas that are also shared with our chook run, rabbit hutch and veggie gardens.

Our 0-2 years Platypus room

Our nursery is like a home away from home for your precious little one. Featuring three generously sized cot rooms for that perfect nap, a quiet breastfeeding corner with a big comfy chair, soft music and dimmable light for parents to relax and feed their baby, and a large open plan indoor play space. Our nursery is filled with beauty from the children’s artwork respectfully displayed in photo frames to the lush indoor plants. Furniture and toys are carefully selected to engage your child in early play, exploration and learning.

Like the other rooms, the nursery flows out to the big covered veranda but is separated from the ‘big kids’ to ensure that our littlest learners have plenty of space to safely explore their outdoor environment and play in their very own sandpit.

We spend a lot of our day outside in our shady outdoor space. There is a strong focus on fostering and supporting emotional well being and development as seen through our Daily Rhythm.

We spend our Playpus days involving children in singing and dancing, sensory exploration such as painting and cooking, relaxation, and a lot of laughter. This really is beautiful nurturing home away from home for our 0-2 age group.

Our 2-3 year olds Possum room

The Possum room caters for our toddlers as they adventure more consciously into talking, shared and imaginative play, and toilet training. Children are encouraged to express themselves as they begin to learn positive social and emotional skills. This beautiful room is also home to some of the other members of our Indigo tribe including our stick insects.

Here, as with our other rooms, a sustainable combination of recycled and new natural materials has been used to create engaging toys and play spaces for children to explore and gain a strong sense of belonging and wellbeing.

Our 3-5 years olds Crocodiles room

The Crocodiles room features activities and resources that engage your children in play-based learning that progressively builds the social and emotional skills that will help them move into big school with confidence. Our experienced teachers nurture indoor and outdoor play to support children in building independent and cooperative play, creativity, and inquiry and problem solving through child-led questions and projects.

Activities that encourage beginning numeracy, letter recognition and fine motor pen and brush control meld naturally into the day of play. Singing and dance build learning skills and interest in reading is excited through daily teacher-led group reading and question-led interaction.

Playground

Indigo Early Learning Centre has a large, open and engaging space where risk-taking and problem-solving is encouraged and highly supervised, in our all-natural outdoor area. The children enjoy digging in the multiple sand pits throughout the playground, bake a mud pie using our mud kitchen, or create a waterfall on our riverbed using the water pumps.

They sing, dance and play on our stage, feel the grass beneath their toes, climb to the top of the cubby house for beautiful views of the playground and Forresters Beach.
Children help us to feed love and care for our chickens and bunny rabbit and help to water the plants and vegetable garden.

There’s no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing
